Big Brother Records present Breaker's Revenge
There are stellar new nights cropping up in Thomas House (Thomas Street) every few weeks by the looks of things - one of particular note being Saturday's Breaker's Revenge, hosted by Big Brother Records' Gerry Molumby and Keef Nally. Reported "graphic design king" and eclectic DJ, Keef has held residencies at Debaser in Stockholm, Monde in Barcelona, the Dice Bar in Dublin and DJs frequently at the Odessa Club and Anseo. Digs lots of Disco, Funk, Electro and the occasional guilty pleasure. Big Brother Records head-honcho and resident RiRa DJ, Gerry Molumby has played pretty much every venue in Dublin over the past 10 years. From residencies at Soul Riot, Mean Fiddler, Blue Note to supporting Bootsy Collins, Howie B, Andy Smith, Ninja Tunes and MoWax. His set incorporates PunkFunk, Electro, Rare Grooves and lots of Soul + Party-Breaks joining the dots from Don Blackman to DFA to Arthur Baker to Emperor Machine. And what would a regular night be without the super guest DJ, this Saturday's being Alex McKee. Filthy Electro and Banging Breaks are the order of the night from the big man "Matagouri". Alex is resident DJ at Clampdown and at 52funk. He has supported Tim Sweeney, Shit Robot, Juan Maclean and Optimo at this years Bud Rising festival... and is Dublin's tallest DJ. Alex's latest playlist includes a diverse selection from Kraftwerk, Delia + Gavin, Dondolo, Zongamin Gui Boratto and Rick James. Matagouri is a Maori word for a type of prickily weed and translates as "Wild Irishman". Don't be afraid but do be warned... this is not to be missed. Doors open at 10pm. They stay open 'til 2.30am. And it's free.
